NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center is spearheading one of the space agency’s most challenging jobs: designing, developing and building the Space Launch System (SLS), a new rocket capable of sending 130 metric tons into deep space. NASA plans to send a small version of that rocket with a lift capacity of 70 metric tons on its first flight in 2017. The rocket is expected to carry an unmanned version of the Orion crew capsule beyond Earth’s orbit on a trip around the Moon.

The Maui Police Department confirmed two more victims of the Aug. 8 Lahaina fire on Wednesday as 14-year-old Keyiro Fuentes and 79-year-old Maurice Buen, both of Lahaina. Fuentes is among the youngest victims to be identified in the aftermath of the fire. Last month, police also named 7-year-old Tony Takafua as one of the victims. The death toll still stands at 115. So far, 63 individuals have been identified and their families notified.
